Aura runs entirely on your own device, whether that is a Windows or Linux computer or an Android or iOS phone. Your photos, videos, file names, hashes, and folders never leave your device. We don't have accounts, we don't track you, and we can't see your files.
The desktop app works the same way: all scanning, hashing, similarity detection and previews happen on your computer, and no file content, file names, paths, thumbnails or metadata are transmitted anywhere. The desktop app makes exactly two kinds of network request:
github.com/utsnik/aura-releases) to see whether a newer version exists. This is an ordinary HTTPS request; GitHub sees your IP address as with any download, and we receive nothing.Pro on desktop is a one-time purchase through Stripe, made in your web browser. Stripe handles the payment; we never see or store your card details. After payment, Stripe notifies our license service with the email address you entered at checkout, and we send a signed license key to that address via our email provider, Resend. The key is checked offline inside the app. We keep the purchase email address and the issued key so we can resend keys and process refunds; we do not use it for marketing.
| Processor | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Processing your Pro purchase | Payment details (held by Stripe), checkout email, purchase record |

| GitHub | Hosting downloads and the update manifest | IP address of the download request |
Aura Pro is a one-time purchase. On Android, the purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment — we never see or store your card details. The app receives only a confirmation from Google Play that a valid purchase exists for your Google account, which it uses to unlock Pro features. We do not collect your name, email, or payment information through the app.
Google's handling of your payment is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.
On iOS, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple handles the payment — we never see or store your payment details. The app receives only Apple's signed purchase entitlement, which it uses to unlock Pro features. We do not collect your name, email, or payment information through the app.
Apple's handling of your payment is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the App Store terms.
| Processor | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play Billing | Processing your Pro purchase and confirming entitlement | Payment details (held by Google), purchase token / entitlement status |
| Apple App Store / StoreKit | Processing your Pro purchase and confirming entitlement | Payment details (held by Apple), signed purchase entitlement |
Google Play and Apple act as payment processors for their respective platforms and have their own privacy policies.
The app stores your scan cache and settings only on your device; you can clear them at any time by clearing the app's data or uninstalling. We do not hold a copy of any of it. Purchase/entitlement records are maintained by Google Play on Android or Apple on iOS, not by us.
On mobile, the app collects no personal data on our servers, so there is nothing on our side to access, correct, or delete. For desktop Pro purchases we hold your checkout email and license key; you may ask us to correct or delete them at the address below (deleting them means we can no longer resend your key). For any data Google Play or Apple holds about your purchase, use the relevant provider's own privacy controls. You may contact us at aura.duplicate.cleaner@gmail.com with any question, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Norway, Datatilsynet).
Aura is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
We'll update this page and the "Last updated" date if this policy changes.
